Understanding Heights in Cedreo

Level : Beginner

Through the settings in the 'Layout' step (as well as the 'Roof' step), you have the ability to customize the heights of your levels and rooms.

Define level heights

2-02 - Level editTo customize the dimensions of your level, you must act on the 'Level' tab in the control panel.

2-02 - Level dimensions

You will have the option to adjust 4 dimensions in the 'Dimensions' settings:

  • Ceiling thickness

  • Height under ceiling

  • Thickness of finished floor

  • Thickness of the slab

Customizing these different dimensions will determine the height of the level (value not directly editable).

❗If you have variations in heights between different parts of your project, assign the highest values to your level, so you can then decrease them in certain rooms (you cannot exceed the total height of the level!)

Define room heights

2-02 - Room editTo customize the dimensions of your room, this time you will need to act on the 'Room' tab in the control panel.

2-02 - Room dimensions

Here, you can adjust 2 dimensions:

  • Ceiling thickness (by default, it will be the same as the level)

  • Thickness of finished floor (by default, it will be the same as the level)

By adjusting these two values, you will modify the height under ceiling specific to this room (value not directly editable).

❗The slab concerns the entire level and therefore cannot be modified by the 'Room' tab. (You will adjust the thickness of the finished floor to differentiate, for example, a living room from a garage.)

Roof: Understanding heights

⚠️ With the exception of the thickness of the slab and the finished floor, the dimensions of a level ('Level Height', 'Height under Ceiling', 'Ceiling Thickness') located under a roof are no longer 'valid'.

2-02 - Roof editWhen you work on a level where a roof is drawn, it is in the dedicated 'Roof' step that we will define the height of the exterior walls.

2-02 Roof Heights

In the 'Roof' step, we can adjust 3 dimensions:

  • Base height > defines the height at which the exterior walls are cut at this level (= knee wall height)

  • Roof thickness (between 2" and 5") > defines the thickness of the roofing material

  • Finished roof thickness (including the covering's thickness) > allows for representing the presence of interior insulation beneath the roof."

Note that, for the gable roof, you can offset the ridge > this will create a second recess value - indicated by the green arrow in the attached screenshot. Each slope base will have its own recess value.
